Full Inspection Soon

I am finally getting down to business within the next week or so, and will be inspecting the car thoroughly. Everything from the clutch, to brakes, fuel pump, ignition etc. I will also inspect the synchros and transmission. Second gear shifting has been grinding frequently, and the synchro may be pretty worn. It could also be something as a little as a loose bolt. The transmission fluid should also be drained, and replaced with a Redline 750, which will certianly provide smootehr shifting. Spark plugs should also get replaced. They are currently stock issue, and I would just feel a whole lot more comfortable with fresh ones. New plugs and wires will more than likely help the car performace quite a lot better.

Future Video

This December I will be filming a walkthrough of the 924. Everything from the entire body to the details of the engine, interior, and all of the things I have done to the car.

Bad Hoses

Appearantly the vacuum hoses are going bad. Some are cracked, some are torn in half, and others are just loose, danky and deteriorated. Bad idea to keep these, so It's time to get a full hose kit and replace every vacuum hose. Need to find more information and collect length measurements on all hoses.

Fixed

Got the garage cleared enough for the 924. Had to whip her to get running just enough to get to the garage. Died as soon as I parked her inside.

This morning before work I had enough time to pop the hood and have a go at inspection. I didn't notice it at first, but after trial and error found that the true problem was the rubber air hoses. Somehow the hose that connects to the sensor plate and mixture control unit was loose, and air was getting through. I refitted the hoses and tightened them as much as possible. Gave it a nice pat, started her up and she came alive!

So glad to realize it was a small problem. I'm still not avoiding the true inspection though. I will begin a routine maintenance test once I get home from work tomorrow. I am hoping the CIS Tester arrives soon!

Supplying

I stopped by my best local hardware store and picked up a pair of 6 ton jack stands, which lengthen out to about 14 inches. I also picked up a creeper just in-case. Came to a good $80. The car is currently sitting outside on the street. I'll have to get some help to get it pushed up into the garage once it's cleared of all the boxes from the recent move. Once in the garage, I can begin inspection.

On another note I removed the center console and glove box for repaint. Sanded the parts down with good 150 sandpaper and applied a black vinyl spray. I also painted black and red acrylic onto the glove box Porsche emblem. It looks like the true colored emblem now. Let the glove box and lower piece dry and placed them back into the car. Waiting for a new center console to arrive for the second part of my plan.

Down

About 3 days ago I was doing massive iterior and electrical work, sanding and repainting parts etc. The following morning the car would turn over but would not go, as if it was not getting enough gas. Tried adding more gas to see if this was the problem, and charging the battery. After neither of these seemed to help my situation, I rolled the car down the street from my hillish driveway for the night.

I got a CIS Tester ordered, and tonight I will inspect the vaccum lines for leakage. Fuel pump/filter should also be looked at. However the filter was replaced nearly 2 months ago. Intake boot may also be loose. (tips given by 924.orgboard member- thanks!)
